Southern Alabama Area Health Education Center covers 10 Counties
Southern Alabama AHEC complies with all federal and state laws. According to Internal Revenue Service rules, a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization is supposed to work for the public benefit, refraining from allowing individual members to benefit financially and from engaging in political activism or lobbying. Failure to comply with IRS regulations can result in loss of nonprofit status. At fiscal year-end, an Audit report should be prepared summarizing the total income and expense activity for the year. The audit will be completed by an independent auditor. The Executive Director will be responsible to hiring an independent audit contractor and will be presented the audit to the Executive Committee for review and to the full board annually.
