VA Community Mental Health Summit

Southern Alabama AHEC partners with the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System to provide an annual VA Community Mental Health Summit in Mobile. The purpose for the Mental Health Summit is to bring together key stakeholders in the community with the goal of enhancing access to mental health services and addressing the mental healthcare needs of Veterans and their family members residing in the Gulf Coast area. This year's focus is improving Veterans' access to mental health care and preventing Veterans' suicides. This year's topics will include:

  • Veteran's Treatment Court

  • Best Practices in Substance Treatment

  • Suicide Prevention & Medication Safety

  • Psychotherapy for Military Sexual Trauma

  • Suicide Prevention and Access to Care

This year's Summit will again be held at the Gulfquest Maritime

Musuem in downtown Mobile, Wednesday, August 7, 2019,
