High School Students

Southern  Alabama AHEC is committed to expanding the health care workforce, maximizing diversity and facilitating distribution, especially in under-served communities.  We offer creative, hands-on, and innovative health career curriculum for students in 9th through 12th grades. We introduce students to a wide assortment of health career possibilities, guide them in goal setting and educational planning, and offer soft skill courses that strengthen resume writing and interviewing skills.  Working with schools, colleges, and community partners, SAAHEC targets economically disadvantaged students and those from underrepresented minority groups in high school and pre-professional college programs.

The Camp MED Explorers is a multi-day summer camp that provides students grade 9-12 with hands on activities and health career presentations.  For more information, click

The Career and Professional Enrichment (CAPE) program is a more targeted health career preparation program that seeks to grow the next generation of health professionals.  For more information on this program, click
